The Schubertiades were kinds of salons, which can otherwise where people held informal
and intimate gatherings. They were mainly found in aristocrats’ residences, and in them, people
would engage in conversations as well as in performances. They belonged to the public, which
appreciated music that was private and personal. The music mainly comprised of an inward
character and the listeners of the music were addressed as individuals (Burkholder, Donald and
Claude 118). When we get together for a party, in most instances the people at the party we are
of the same age group. Therefore, we often set some time aside to share the variety of the music
being played as we go on with the performances.
