Description
Currently I am to write an introduction page for my next Psychology research report on reaction time. I was given a data set on a number of individual's reaction time in a simple reaction time test and made to develop a hypothesis using the data (which I have and hypothetically added a new variable > IQ <) and a plan to analyze the date (using a Pearsons correlation coefficient). The introduction requires 8 apa citations to support it (5 of which I have already sourced and will be included)
I have also attached a copy of the raw data from which the hypothesis and report are formed. (the data set has more than 100 subjects but I only need 50 per group so I kept it at that)
Here is my current hypothesis which you are to write an introduction to the research report.
For my topic I would like to determine if there is a correlation between an individuals IQ (Intelligence quotient) and their reaction time.
So I will be introducing a variable to the data set (IQ scores). Using (50Male/50Female) 100 participants in total –50 per group.
Hypothesis: There is a positive correlation between reation time and those with higher IQ scores.
Process: I will begin by administering a popular IQ test (the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale) to participants. Then dividing the groups into high and low scores: Scores with an IQ of 115 and under and IQ scores 116 and higher. I will not be assessing differences in sex/age with IQ as there is no known significance between the two but I will make note of the age differences with regard to reaction time.
Both groups with then be administered both a simple RT test. I will then utilize a Pearsons Correlation coeffient test for both groups (high/low IQ) using their RT, and then calculate the mean of the two groups to determine if there is a significant difference from the other.
** Im guessing I will randomly assign IQ scores to RT scores provided in the dataset and then divide the data into the two groups based on IQ scores to keep it unbiased**
