Media Hype
Was anything surprising to you?
The articles and YouTube videos are interesting, shocking, and surprising. What the
author claims in the two articles is unbelievable because I am an avid consumer of media
content. I have never thought about the reliability and motives of most of the things consume
from the media, always reading and watching and feeling like the world is coming to an end. I
was especially attracted by the Industrial Complex part, which brings to light how to make
profits by scaring us to death about things like shark attacks, terrorism, and gun violence
(John, 2007). Although the author is a bit annoyed and frustrated by media hype, I agree that the
things that deserve attention are mostly ignored.

Discuss something you remember being "hyped" on TV or in the newspaper.
