No. 1.
The declaration of independence is one of the oldest US documents by Thomas
Jefferson in 1776. It was a formal statement which demanded Great Britain to free all the
thirteen colonies. On the other hand, the US constitution can be defined as the supreme law of
the nation. The constitution ensures fair distribution of power and at the same time protects
citizens from excessive use of force. The two documents are similar since they are used in
protecting the citizens from abuse of power by leaders among other people. The declaration
of independence has not undergone any amendments and this is one of the main differences
between the two documents. The constitution has gone through several amendments.
No. 2
For the past 200 years, the power of the president has evolved. The first presidents
had limitations by the constitutional provisions. Currently, the presidency is more influential
with more roles than during the 1700s. The main cause of the changes in power are the
constitutional changes. Thus, the power of the house has been increasing gradually. The
intentions of the constitution is to make the presidency more powerful so that it becomes
possible to enact laws to all the states.
