I'm undergoing distance learning and need help with a chemistry assignment. My tutor refuses to help me, so god knows what they're getting paid for! Anyway... The questions are: Calculate bond energies for the following reaction - C6H12O6 + 6O2 → 6CO2 + 6H2O Bond C-H - 89Kcal/mol (Energy required to make or break bond) Bond O-H - 110Kcal/mol Bond C-C - 80Kcal/mol Bond C-O - 78 Kcal/mol Bond O=O - 116Kcal/mol Bond C=C - 187Kcal/mol Bond C=O - 145Kcal/mol It also asks me to calculate enthalpy. (I have added photos of what image was supplied with the assignment) The next question asks: Find ΔH (with a degrees sign) for the reaction given the following reactions and subsequent ΔH (with degrees sign) values: CS2 + 3O2 → CO2 + 2SO2 C+ O2 → CO2 ΔH (with degrees sign) = -393.5 Kcal/mol S+ O2 → SO2 ΔH (with degrees sign) = - 296.8 Kcal/mol C + 2S → CS2 ΔH (with degrees sign) = +87.9 kcal/mol The next question is the same, but for the following: Ch4 + NH3 → HCN + 3H2 N2 + 3H2 → 2NH3 ΔH (with degrees sign) = -91.8 kcal/mol C + 2H2 → CH4 ΔH (with degrees sign) = -74.9 kcal.mol H2 + 2C + N2 → 2HCN ΔH (with degrees sign) = +270.3 Kcal/mol I've really been thrown in the deep end and never wanted to take the science root of this course! please understand that I will not be going into a career that requires me to know this subject, otherwise I would make the effort to pay for tutoring!
