Though the book encompasses a lot of different themes, one of its most major themes is self-acceptance, portrayed through the main character Willy Loman, a traveling salesman. Despite his strong belief in the American Dream that success and wealth are achieved by being popular and well-liked by society, he is unable to achieve it. Instead, he spends his days sulking and thinking about his past, unable to accept his current situation. His inability to accept himself and adapt to changes in society eventually leads to the horrible outcome of him committing suicide. Therefore, the moral of the story is that self-acceptance is one of the keys to success; to achieve your goals, you must first be able to accept your flaws.
