Becoming is an autobiography classified as a memoir. Published on 13 November 2018 by Crown Publishing Group, Becoming has been published in different languages whilst also releasing the book both in digital and in print formats throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin American. Unlike most books published internationally, Becoming retains its original title with a remarkable cover design, depicting a smiling Michelle Obama in front of a pale blue background. Becoming is one of the leading best-selling books in Amazon?s best-sellers list. Since the book hit the shelves on 13 November 2018, Becoming, has sold over 1.4 million digital and print copies in U.S and Canada.

The book follows Michelle Obama?s journey from a child growing up in a humble home in the south side of Chicago to her position as First Lady of the United States. In her memoir, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, describing her experiences, disappointments, and triumphs, both in her private and public life. She talks about her experiences, that molded her into the person she is today. In addition, Obama reflects on her most resilient moments in the political limelight and shares how she had to learn to manage the demands of being a wife, a mother, and the expectations of being the First Lady. The book is divided into three parts: Becoming Me, Becoming Us, and Becoming More. The first part of the book accounts for Michelle?s early life while the second part Becoming Us introduces the reader to Michelle?s romance life with Barack Obama, starting a family and searching for work. The last part, BecomingMore, accounts for Michelle and Barack Obama?s lives as public figures, including being the First Lady.

About the Author

Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama is an American lawyer, writer, former university administrator, and a former U.S First Lady (2009-2017) born on January 17, 1964. Wife to the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, and the first African American First Lady in the U.S history. Obama graduated from Princeton University as well as Harvard Law School. In her legal career, she worked at Sidley & Austin which is where she met her to be husband. Prior to releasing her best-selling book Becoming, Obama had written other books such as American Grown and Michelle Obama in Her Own Words.
