All strategies that have been proposed by Braithwaite are intended to reduce uncertainty,
and discomfort during communication and interaction between able-bodied people, and disabled
people. Some of these strategies “break the ice,” and they initiate communication by either
establishing normalcy, and an even ground where interactions can be established without
discomfort, and uncertainty. However, these strategies maybe ineffective because some of them
do not present a viable platform for communication, and they might develop a rift between ablebodied people, and people with disability (Knobloch, 2014). “Participants explained that they
might crack a joke about being disabled seems uncomfortable with them.” This statement shows
