The chapter simply discusses that the human beings had made numerous inventions and innovations. But, there was 99.99 percent ignorance about organisms and earth. Human beings did not know anything about microorganisms and therefore the discovery of a home-made microscope in 1674 by Anton van Leeuwenhoek is what helped people to view microorganisms. Basically, the discovery of ignorance laid the basis for scientific revolution as man, started working toward discovering those things they had never observed or felt before.
